German Airline Association (BDF)

The German Airline Association (BDF) represents most of Germany's air carriers (scheduled, charter and low fare). Our member airlines are among the safest in the industry and transport more than 120 million passengers worldwide. Based on international standards, our member airlines operate state-of-the-art, efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft. The BDF associated airlines employ more than 120.000 people.

The BDF represents the interests of our member airlines before parliament, government administration and airports. The lobbying on the European level is effected indirectly by means of three European airline associations (AEA, IACA and ERA). Furthermore, it is our task to sensitize the German legislators and administration to relevant aviation concerns. The BDF seeks and fosters the cooperatioon with other associations and companies in the aviation industry to reach common goals. Our work contributes to a booming economic sector and facilitates the creation of many new jobs in Germany each year.

Today, the aviation industry has to cope with numerous challenges. The BDF focuses on the three main issues: airport infrastructure and charges, security/safety and environment.

Ralf Teckentrup, Managing Director of Condor Flugdienst GmbH, represents the BDF as president. Dr. Tanja Wielgoß is Managing Director of the BDF.
